We Preach Christ!
We believe that Christ should be the central focus of everything we teach and preach here at Gospel Life Church. Every passage of Scripture points to Christ - His birth, life, death, and resurrection and His offices of prophet, priest, and king.
After His resurrection, Jesus Christ appeared before His disciples and explained to them what all the Scriptures said about Him. Luke 24:26-27 says, "'Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?' And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself."
And again Luke 24:44-47 says, "He said to them, 'This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.' Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, 'This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem."
The Apostle Paul summed up his teaching and preaching ministry by explaining what was at the core of what he taught and preached - the gospel of Jesus Christ. By doing so, he also defined what the gospel is in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, which says, "Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures." |
